  • Design

Cushion designed for Armchair 311 upholstered with textile Aralia.

A large, boldly printed linen cretonne for its time, Aralia was introduced in connection with the interior design of a house in the fashionable Hohe Warte district in Vienna. Josef Frank and his colleague Oskar Wlach did the house’s interior design. The large leaves in the print are almost the same as those found on the potted Aralia plant. The print was designed around 1928.

In 1925, he founded the Haus & Garten interior firm together with architect colleague Oskar Wlach. Svenskt Tenn hired Josef Frank in 1934 and just a few years later he and Estrid Ericson made their international breakthrough. Although he was already 50 when he left the burgeoning Nazism in Vienna for Sweden, Frank is considered one of Sweden’s most important designers. Read more

  • Care instructions

All types of feather cushions need to be puffed up to maintain their resilience. Shake and puff up the cushions regularly and knead them to loosen up any feather bunches.
