Linen fabrics drying in the summer sun. Starched napkins and tablecloths ironed with a mangle. There certainly is something special with linen. For us, it evokes warm summer memories, yet also associations to Josef Frank’s floral designs and our founder Estrid Ericson’s evocative table settings.

Josef Frank’s timeless designs are printed on linen of the finest quality. The three different variations – 100 Linen, 315 Linen and 450 Linen – are designed to be used for curtains, interior accessories and upholstery.

Linen is a sustainable material. The plant grows quickly, taking only a hundred days from being sowed to harvest, and it doesn’t require irrigation, fertilising or spraying. The supplier that Svenskt Tenn works with extracts the fibres naturally, without even adding water. The supplier also runs its weaving mill carbon-neutrally through wind power.

A magical plant

Flax has been used for more than ten thousand years and can best be described as a magical little plant. Flaxseed can be eaten and used in the production of oil. The plant’s fibres are used as sutures in healthcare, and paper and fibreboard can be made from its by-products. The stalks are processed in various ways before they can be spun into thread and woven into linen – a fabric that is both durable and beautiful with its distinct texture.
