“Bless this house oh Lord we pray, make it safe by night and day.” This trivet was originally introduced in the 1950s by Estrid Ericson, as a door decoration to protect the home from all evil. The text is the first line in a song written in 1927 by Helen Taylor and composed by May Brahe. The trivet stands on pads of rubber that can melt of exposure to high temperatures and damage the surface below.

But what really set her apart during her 56 years as managing director for Svenskt Tenn were her abilities as a producer and scenographer. Ericson never had an aesthetic programme mapped out, but she had an imaginative person’s perceptiveness for the many faces of beauty.
