Jewellery from Svenskt Tenn

Estrid Ericson was interested in everything that had to do with design. In the 1940s, she also began designing jewellery made of pewter and brass, such as earrings, bracelets, necklaces and brooches. One of the first jewellery collections that were introduced to the assortment is Knot, that includes, among other things, a bracelet and earrings combining both brass and pewter. Over the years, several additions from modern designers have been added to the assortment, such as Ted Meuhling's Pearl and Acorn, Jonna Preisler's Stud or Märta Mattsson's jewellery series Metamorfos (Metamorphosis), which is inspired by the idea of making decorative jewellery from realistic insects.

Mother's Day in Sweden

Mother's Day is celebrated every year in Sweden on the last Sunday of May and originates from the USA, where it has been celebrated for over 100 years. Its founder, Anna Jarvs, began the tradition as a tribute in the memory of her deceased mother. According to her, "a mother is the person who has done more for you than anyone else". The first celebration took place in West Virginia in 1908, and it wasn’t long before it became an official holiday in the United States. After that, it spread quickly to other countries such as Sweden, where it was celebrated for the first time in 1919.
