DECORATE YOUR TERRACE

Iron garden furniture is appealing to the eye and resistant to weather and wind. During the 1930s, the functionalist style had made inroads in Sweden and Josef Frank designed both the “591” garden chair and the “602” garden table in white or black lacquered iron. Lacquered iron furniture was popular in the concepts prevailing in the 1930s and functions equally well in today’s modern interiors.

Since there are hundreds of thousands of species of flowers around the world, it’s likely that Svenskt Tenn’s founder, Estrid Ericson, failed to fully grasp the details when she declared that “one should have as many vases as there are types of flowers”. For the 1940 autumn collection, she promised, among other things, to exhibit 100 different vases with flowers in them. She planned, sketched and arranged both vases and flowers –with abundant success.

Estrid Ericson’s ideas live on even today at Svenskt Tenn, with a range of vases designed for plants large and small, flower arrangements, single blooms and shoots.
