Festive table setting

At Svenskt Tenn, we set the table for winter festivities and gatherings, with some of the new products released in 2022. A warm, atmospheric and elegant table setting for both small and large parties.

Frida Fjellmans colourful carafes and Gunnar Cyréns characteristic wine glasses set the mood for the table setting together with classic pewter candlesticks and the Peanut saucer by India Mahdavi.

As always, we are inspired by Svenskt Tenn’s historic table settings. Our founder Estrid Ericson was widely known for her table settings, and she received particular attention during the holidays.

The pleasures of the table are the first and last delights of all ages and all classes of society. We sit down at the table more than a thousand times every year of our lives, and so important is our mealtime to the happiness of our lives that we must exert ourselves to make a pleasant event of it. We must take every possible opportunity of investing it with poetry and pleasure.

Table settings have always been essential at Svenskt Tenn, and in today's range there are both classic accessories and new launches from 2022.

One of the new arrivals this year is the ‘Rök’ (Smoke) carafe, designed by Frida Fjellman for Svenskt Tenn. It is a table sculpture that can be used as a vase or carafe, designed to add something rather than blend into a table setting. The cork is shaped like rising smoke: a smoke signal and a nod to communication and conversation at the dinner table. The design is an attempt to capture the glass in motion, to depict how it appears in its warm form, and the result is a carafe that is a play on baroque and rococo.

The ‘Gryning’ (Dawn) tableware is another new arrival to the range. Designer Sara Söderberg created it with the thought and hope that it could have been part of Estrid Ericson’s poetic table settings. The transparency of the white clay is enhanced by the relief. The tactile, wavy surface is a reminder that each detail has been designed and produced by hand.

India Mahdavi's ‘Peanut’ plate is one of her classic design objects, which she created in pewter for the first time in 2022 for Svenskt Tenn. Both the Peanut plate and the Marble vase were made as a tribute to Estrid Ericson. In this year's festive setting, we use is to serve delightful sweets and confectionery.
