Furnishing an artist studio

Inspired by a visit to the recreated artist studio above the Alekos Fassianos Museum in Athens, Svenskt Tenn has furnished a workspace that echoes the same expressive and timeless spirit. This interior stands as a homage to the artist’s life and legacy, where brushes, pastels, and neatly lined books sit alongside Fassianos’s signature objects, enduring furnishings, and the richly patterned textiles of Josef Frank.

A reading nook for inspiration.

Each piece in the room has been thoughtfully chosen to nurture both focus and inspiration. Josef Frank’s classic Desk 980 anchors the space, accompanied by the graceful Chair 2238 and the inviting lines of Couch 775. Like Fassianos, Frank believed the home should pulse with life—welcoming colour, warmth, and ornamentation. That philosophy is woven into every corner of this studio, where furniture creates quiet zones within the larger room, each one attuned to the shifting rhythms of a working day.

One of the latest additions to Svenskt Tenn’s range is the decorative bird in silver, created after a work by Alekos Fassianos.

Textiles, no less than furniture, shape the soul of the room. At the window, flowing panels of Josef Frank’s Aramal linen fabric catch the light—a bold, lyrical fabric where curling green leaves conceal delicate dragonflies. Designed in the early 1940s, the pattern conjures a wild Mediterranean garden, alive with poetry and motion. Beneath it all lies Rug Frank No. 1, gently framing the space as a soft foundation for a room where creativity is free to grow.
