Crystal Flora Intro - Svenskt Tenn

Crystal Flora

Designer Ingegerd Råman has received the Excellent Swedish Design award on several occasions and is represented at museums such as the National Museum in Stockholm, Victoria & Albert Museum in London and the Röhsska Museum in Gothenburg. She has created the Crystal Flora glass set and other items for Svenskt Tenn.

Råman describes the set as delicate, but functional. The glasses have a transparent and soft, yet strict and elegant form, which makes them equally suitable for everyday or special occasions. In December they work equally well for a Christmas “glögg” (mulled wine) party or on the Christmas table. Crystal Flora consists of four glasses: one for champagne, one for wine and two seltzer glasses – all handmade at Skruf’s Glassworks in Småland.

Svenskt Tenn supports craftsmanship and the demand for Swedish-made glass is important to ensure the continuation of the Swedish glass industry. The family-owned Skruf’s Glassworks has been around since 1897 and Ingegerd Råman describes it as, “A little, independent glassworks that focuses on genuine craftsmanship when larger operations are increasingly being driven toward automation and simplification. Here you meet the owners in the glassworks – in the midst of production. It’s a lovely, warm place for a designer to work.”
