Three Iconic Floor Lamps

Floor Lamp 2431

Svenskt Tenn's lighting range consists largely of Josef Frank's lamps and lampshades. Floor lamp 2431 was one of the early models, designed in 1932 – 1938 and depicted in the very first lamp catalogue in 1940. The lamp was originally called the "Three-spiral" when it was designed by Josef Frank, but since it was exhibited at the Golden Gate exhibition in San Francisco 1939 it was nicknamed the "San Francisco lamp".

Most of Svenskt Tenn's floor lamps are manufactured in Sweden using traditional craftsmanship, and many of the production steps are done manually. Floor lamp 2431 is made at Rubn in Vittsjö. The factory was founded in 1951 by the brothers Uno and Östen Kristiansson, with a focus on aesthetics, durability, function and quality. The three light sources of the San Francisco lamp spread the light beautifully across the room and can be adjusted as needed.

Floor Lamp 2548

Floor lamp 2548, also known as "Kryckan" (The Crutch), was designed in 1952 by Josef Frank, as a new version of a lamp he created for his own company Haus und Garten in Vienna in the 1920s. In the adjustable lamp stand he has combined different materials such as walnut and brass, which he often did in his design. The floor lamp was shown at the memorial exhibition for Josef Frank at the National Museum in Stockholm in 1968.

This floor lamp is manufactured by the renowned Karlskrona Lamp Factory, a family-owned company founded almost 130 years ago, which today is run by the fifth generation of the Skantze family. As one of the few remaining lamp manufacturers with production in Sweden, they preserve a knowledge and craft tradition that is unique in its kind. The lamp stand is ordered from Ericsson and Sons carpentry in Vrena, Sweden, who also manufactures many of Josef Frank's other wooden furniture.

Floor Lamp 2368

Floor lamp 2368 is also called the "Large Camel" after the curved shape of the arm. The model was designed by Josef Frank in 1932 – 1939, and can be seen in the Music Room in Anne's house at Millesgården in Stockholm. The lamp is best used next to the reading corner or next to your favourite armchair. It is made in brass, just like many other fixtures in Svenskt Tenn's range.

The brass used in Svenskt Tenn’s lamps is purchased from a rolling mill outside of Florence. It is a high-quality material, and the brass scraps from the manufacturing process is always recycled. They are sorted in the factory so that the pure brass can be melted down into new metal. All electrical materials for the lamps are also manufactured in Italy, at a supplier who works in accordance with a policy whereby all components must be of Swedish or European origin.
