Side Tables for the Living Room

Josef Frank designed several side tables for Svenskt Tenn, where materials, form and details work together in harmony. The range includes side tables for the living room in a variety of expressions – from organic shapes inspired by nature to models influenced by historical furniture styles.

Table 1058 was designed by Josef Frank in 1946. The idea behind the table was to create the impression that a piece of tree had been taken directly from nature and placed on a base. The table is made from elm burl, a vivid wood species whose variations range from light golden and green tones to darker brown shades. These natural variations give each table a unique expression.

Table 974, also known as the “Tea Table”, was designed by Josef Frank in 1938. Its shape is inspired by 18th-century tea tables, with a raised edge and elegant proportions. The turned legs with stylised paw feet and the distinctive H-shaped stretcher are recurring details in Josef Frank’s furniture design.

Side Tables in Exclusive Materials

Svenskt Tenn’s range includes side tables in materials such as elm burl, mahogany, marble, brass and glass. Several of the designs combine different types of wood with other materials to create contrast and give the furniture a vivid expression. Josef Frank designed side tables that allowed the natural qualities of the materials to take centre stage and shape the character of each piece. The natural variations in the materials give each table its own unique character.

Side Tables in Different Shapes

Svenskt Tenn offers side tables in a variety of shapes and sizes. The range includes oval side tables with soft, organic lines, round tables that create a harmonious expression, and narrow models suited to smaller spaces or beside a sofa or armchair. The varied forms make it easy to combine function and aesthetics, whether the table is used as a surface for everyday objects, a bedside table or a decorative feature in the room.

Tray Tables with Patterns by Josef Frank

Svenskt Tenn’s assortment of side tables also includes the company’s classic tray tables. The tables consist of a folding lacquered steel stand designed to support a tray on top. The tray stands are available in two sizes and come in either white or green lacquer. Svenskt Tenn’s round trays, available in diameters of 65 or 31 cm, are designed to fit the stands. The trays feature several of Josef Frank’s timeless patterns, as well as Estrid Ericson’s beloved pattern Elefant.

Svenskt Tenn’s tray tables combine beautifully with other side tables and are easy to move and adapt to different interiors.
