Easter Decorations

This year’s Easter decorations at Svenskt Tenn are a celebration of spring and one of the season’s most distinctive flowers – the tulip. Several of the pieces take their cue from Josef Frank’s classic pattern Tulpaner, with its vibrant and beautifully composed design. Other decorations highlight traditional Easter symbols such as cockerels, hens and hares.

What unites the collection is the presence of history and the human hand; in each piece, tradition and craftsmanship meet a contemporary expression. Handcrafted objects in glass, brass and beads invite you to decorate your home for Easter – and to welcome the spring and the returning light.

In the margin of the sketched original for Josef Frank’s pattern Tulpaner, flowers in varying forms can be seen. These tulips became the starting point for artist and art director Marika Vaccino Andersson’s work on hand-painted glass eggs. By exploring the variation in each brushstroke, she has allowed the tulips to take shape anew. Each hand-painted egg is unique and offers a gentle interpretation of Frank’s timeless pattern.

In Eternal Bloom

Handcrafted from glass beads, these flowers are designed by Danish artist Katrine Roug. The series includes smaller pendants and larger blooms, among them tulips. Each tulip is interpreted in three-dimensional form, drawing inspiration from the rhythm, movement and graphic vitality of Josef Frank’s pattern Tulpaner.

Artist and silversmith Karin Ferner returns to Svenskt Tenn with a series of handcrafted brass decorations that reflect her fondness for decorating the home for festive occasions. Cockerels, hares and hens – classic symbols of Easter – take shape as objects to place on the laid table or hang from Easter branches. The decorations draw inspiration from both Swedish and international folk art, where a simple and unpretentious expression takes centre stage.
