Decorate with textile

Svenskt Tenn has a wide and unique range of fabrics in linen and cotton, recognised for their high quality and colourful variety. You can find many beautiful fabrics online as well as in the store on Strandvägen 5.

Finding the textiles that is best suited for your home and personal interior can be tricky. Browse through our selection of textiles online to find your own favourite. At Svenskt Tenn, an abundance of pattern is the key, with floral textiles in focus. The Austrian architect and designer Josef Frank left more than 160 fabric designs exclusively to Svenskt Tenn, many of which were initially printed during his time and are still being produced today.

Textile materials

Svenskt Tenn's range of textiles consists of a variation of high quality linen and cotton textiles, suitable to use as curtains, cushions and for upholstry. The rage also offers a selection of throws in mohair wool, merino wool and cashmere.

Decorate with textile & fabric

Decorating with textiles in different forms creates a cosy and convivial impression in every room and it is also a way to soften things up, add colour and bring nature into the interior. Estrid Ericson’s well-known elephant print and Josef Frank’s iconic botanical fabric prints have all become classics in Svenskt Tenn’s fabric range. Different thread counts, prints, stripes and solid colours can be combined to create a unique ensemble.

Josef Frank was often inspired by nature and many of his textile designs are made of colourful flowers and leaves. It is a print art that is unique, with the textiles often depicting a personal blend of well-known flowers and favourites from the flowerbed, combined with images, fruits and climbing vines taken right out of the imagination. Throughout the years, Josef Frank’s textiles have become world famous and today are seen in many homes among design enthusiasts.

Textile usage

Svenskt Tenn's textile department, both at the store and online, consists of a variety of textiles with different expressions and qualities. Discover everything from fabric sold by the metre to cushions, rugs and throws that softens up the interior. The textile fabrics sold by the metre are available in both patterned and single-coloured variants; some are ideal to use as furniture fabrics, while other thinner fabrics are suitable as curtains. Here, you will also find kitchen textiles and table setting textiles to adorn the table for every occasion.

Textile care

Machine-wash Svenskt Tenn’s fabrics, both linen and cotton, at 40°C. Avoid colder temperatures and soaking, which can cause the fabric colours to bleed or fade. Use a mild detergent without bleach and let the items drip dry. Do not spin dry. Fabrics can shrink by approximately 3-5 per cent when washing.

Textile patterns

Many of Josef Frank’s textiles are marked by the different places and cultures, countries, forests and cities that he visited or dreamed about visiting during his lifetime. His very first print, Florence, was composed as early as 1909 when he was in Northern Italy and the last print, Himalaya, was created in 1950 at the age of 65. During 1943-1945, a time when Josef Frank was located in New York, he created many of the designs that went on to become his most important prints and that can be found in the Svenskt Tenn fabric collection today, including Manhattan, Hawaii, Vegetable Tree and Gröna Fåglar (Green Birds). When Svenskt Tenn founder Estrid Ericson turned 50, in 1944, she received 50 newly created fabric designs as a gift from Josef Frank.
