Scandinavian Sideboards by Svenskt Tenn

Unique Design and Exceptional Craftsmanship.
At Svenskt Tenn, sideboards and cabinets combine functional storage with distinctive design. The collection includes pieces by Josef Frank as well as contemporary designers such as Eva Schildt. Many of Josef Frank’s sideboards draw inspiration from the English furniture tradition and combine different materials within a single piece. Each sideboard is crafted in Sweden with great care for materials, resulting in enduring craftsmanship designed to last for generations.

Sideboards and Cabinets

Sideboards and cabinets from Svenskt Tenn can be placed throughout the home – in the dining room, living room or hallway – offering both storage and a way to display objects. Eva Schildt’s Sideboard Kvintett is one such piece, crafted with a mahogany frame and designed with a mirrored base and glass sides. Its slender proportions are influenced by Josef Frank’s belief that furniture should stand on high legs, allowing the line between floor and wall to remain visible. This approach is characteristic of the Scandinavian sideboard tradition, where lightness and proportion play a central role.

Selected Woods and Details

Svenskt Tenn’s sideboards and cabinets are made from carefully selected woods, including mahogany, walnut and birch. The combination of different materials was a defining feature of Josef Frank’s design, creating a sense of variation and vitality in each piece. The natural properties of the wood, together with precise craftsmanship, give every sideboard its own character. Many pieces feature brass details, including Josef Frank’s distinctive acorn-shaped hinges.
