Experience craftsmanship

Honouring craftsmanship is a central part of Svenskt Tenn, which collaborates with
25 workshops and two glassworks across Sweden. Every day, cabinetmakers, glassblowers, seamstresses, metalworkers, ceramists and basketmakers create the furniture and interior details that form part of our assortment. Each year, Svenskt Tenn invites some of these skilled artisans to the store – offering an insight into the techniques and processes behind a selection of our iconic objects. Welcome to be inspired and to experience the craftsmanship at Strandvägen 5.

Ida Ernst and Jonas Wallo from Ernst Leather

On Friday, 5 June, Ida Ernst and Jonas Wallo from the saddlery Ernst Leather Studio will visit Svenskt Tenn’s store at Strandvägen 5 in Stockholm. They will present the craftsmanship behind the recently launched Table Nest, designed by Monica Förster for Svenskt Tenn.

The table was developed through an open and exploratory dialogue, where different materials and techniques were tested before the final combination of leather and steel was chosen. The form evolved through exploring different ways of constructing the object. The advanced craftsmanship became a guiding part of the process and came to shape the table’s final expression.

Ida Ernst and Jonas Wallo will demonstrate parts of the work behind the table live in the store, from embossing and trimming the leather to painting the edges by hand.
