Rooster by Josef Frank

The decorative rooster, or cockarel in brass was designed by Josef Frank and was originally created as a weather vane for Estrid Ericson’s summer house, Tolvekarna. Later, it served as the model for a smaller cockerel intended for use as a table decoration.

About the rooster

The rooster is an ancient symbol of vigilance and, during Easter, is associated with the triumph of light over darkness, as it crows at the break of dawn to herald a new day.

A table decoration

The brass rooster available in the collection today is a beautiful addition to the Easter table, continuing the tradition of its decorative use.

Josef Frank

Austrian designer and architect Josef Frank has had an enormous impact on the history of Swedish design. Despite being nearly 50 years old when emigrating to Sweden, he is now considered one of the country’s most important designers of all time.
