This austere, rectangular stool with a textile or leather seat, was designed by Josef Frank in 1950. The square legs have the typically distinctive corners that characterize Josef Frank’s design. The stand is reminiscent of furniture design from the 1700s.

In the 1920s he designed housing estates and large residential blocks built around common courtyards in a Vienna with severe housing shortages. Svenskt Tenn hired Josef Frank in 1934 and just a few years later he and Estrid Ericson made their international breakthrough. Care instructions

Svenskt Tenn’s furniture is made from wood that is varnished or coated. Clean with a soft cloth dampened with mild dish detergent or soapy water. Dry with a soft cloth. Do not expose the furniture to prolonged humidity or direct heat or use polish, oil or abrasive cleaners on the furniture. Also avoid exposing the furniture to large changes in temperature and humidity.

Contact a furniture restorer if the coating or wood gets damaged, as it can get worse if not tended to.
