Svenskt Tenn: A Philosophy of Home

EXHIBITED AT LILJEVALCHS
2024.09.27 – 2025.01.12

Svenskt Tenn concluded its centenary celebrations with a landmark exhibition at Liljevalchs art gallery in Stockholm in the autumn of 2024. The retrospective was the most extensive of its kind, highlighting Svenskt Tenn’s rich heritage, the visionary work of the company’s founder Estrid Ericson, and the iconic architect and designer Josef Frank.

Svenskt Tenn: A Philosophy of Home represented the most extensive exhibition on Svenskt Tenn to date. Visitors were transported through the century-spanning narrative across thirteen thematic rooms at Liljevalchs, curated by renowned London-based curator and writer Jane Withers, together with Svenskt Tenn's Head Curator Karin Södergren.

With rarely seen objects from Svenskt Tenn's own extensive archive, along with loans from international museums and private collections, the exhibition offered visitors a one-of-a-kind deep dive into Svenskt Tenn's history—from the design and production of pewter wares in 1920s Stockholm to the brand’s expansion into furniture, textiles, lighting, and tableware on the international design scene.
