The Schackruta Rug
Some of Margit Thorén's most celebrated creations from the 1940s are those designed for Svenskt Tenn and Estrid Ericson: the Gripsholmsruta textile, the Schackruta rug, and the Vägen upholstery fabric. These enduring classics continue to be part of Svenskt Tenn's timeless range.
Manufacturing the Schackruta Rug
The Shackruta rug is handwoven by Vandra Rugs' skilled weavers in Ukraine, using advanced weaving techniques.
Margit Thorén
Entreprenören och textilformgivaren Margit Thorén tog sin realexamen vid Sofi Almqvists samskola 1931 och fortsatte därefter studierna vid Bartlett School of Architecture i London, där hon riktade in sig på inredning. År 1934 anställdes hon av Estrid Ericson på Svenskt Tenn.
