The Clarity of a Room

Svenskt Tenn turns 100 years and in the first major exhibition of the jubilee year, the furniture treasure from the archive is in focus.

Since Svenskt Tenn's furniture department opened in 1930, countless classics have been showcased at the store on Strandvägen 5. In the company's archive, there are over 3000 furniture sketches and drawings signed by the architect and designer Josef Frank. In "The clarity of a Room" exhibition, we launch five designs from the archive, with never-before-seen furniture by Josef Frank among the new arrivals.

The Stockholm cabinet In limited edition

The Stockholm Cabinet is produced in a limited edition of 100 pieces for Svenskt Tenn's centenary in 2024. It was designed by Josef Frank around 1930-50, with the original sketch indicating that it should be lined with paper. Drawing inspiration from various map cabinets Josef Frank designed during his active years, Svenskt Tenn has covered the cabinet with an antique map of Stockholm, drawn by lithographer Heinrich Neuhaus in 1875. The map is exceptionally detailed, with each individual building outlined in the motif.

Svenskt Tenn Est. 1924

Svenskt Tenn celebrates 100 years and we start off the jubilee with the launch of ‘Svenskt Tenn Est. 1924’ – a print design originally named ‘Stockholm’ when it was created by Josef Frank in 1949-1950.

For the centenary, the print has been slightly updated to include the words Svenskt Tenn Est. 1924. It is now available on fabric by the metre, on selected products and on six classic pieces of furniture, only produced in one exclusive copy each.
