Fornasetti's mirrors are magical objects that exude mystery and enigma. The convex glass distorts and deceives, thus perfectly embodying the idea of optical deception and illusion. In the history of art, mirrors and its properties have attracted a number of artists including Jan van Eyck (1390-1441) with his famous ‘Arnolfini Portrait’, to which Piero Fornasetti dedicated one of his creations. Just like all Fornasetti accessories, mirrors will turn an everyday action into an esthetic experience. Look into the mirror and travel around the world of Fornasetti’s imagination.
Piero Fornasetti (1913-1988) was an Italian painter, sculptor and designer who created more than 13,000 products during his career with a distinctive design style that is immediately recognisable. He is considered one of the 20th century’s foremost creative talents. Svenskt Tenn’s founder Estrid Ericson was friends with Piero Fornasetti and they had a great mutual respect for each other’s creations. They began working together in 1946. Today, Piero Fornasetti’s son, Barnaba, is perpetuating the tradition.
